Flossing

Would it surprise you to learn that there are a few things you should do if you want to keep your teeth strong and healthy? For example, you may know how important it is to brush and floss your teeth consistently—but did you know that inadequate flossing could actually affect your overall health?

For instance, you’ve probably been told that you need to clean plaque off of your pearly whites consistently. You may have also have heard that brushing can help remove most of the plaque and bacteria from your teeth. However, did you know that there are some areas in your mouth that you should not try to clean with your toothbrush? Luckily, you can clean these certain areas, which include underneath your gum line and the space between your teeth, with floss. If you do not floss regularly or well enough, you could develop problems such as gum disease.

Sadly, your gums will inflame if your pearly whites aren’t cleaned properly. If this happens, your gums could potentially separate from your teeth, letting bacteria into your bloodstream. From there it will spread throughout your body and may cause diseases such as high blood pressure, gum disease, dementia, and heart disease.
